Sushi Cat in Tallinn: Sushi and...Cats!

Nothing in Tallinn is more boring than Silk or Sushi House if you want to eat Sushi. You can compare the atmosphere to a pizzeria and the prices of a 5 stars restaurant.

Sushi Cat has a new concept and will definitely make these places drown: a real and different atmosphere and competitive prices.

Even though it opened during harsh, the concept is great and the word-of-mouth is efficient. We heard of the place and decided to face the cold wind and walk away from Tallinn Old Town to taste a bit of sushi. The location is Roosikrantsi 16, 5 minutes from Vana Tallinn. The window is quite funny and gave the name to the place: a huge cat eating sushi.

Inside it is quite small but cosy. So if you plan to go there with your friend, you better call before. Lucky us, a table was free and we quickly sat down. First impression, you are not in Estonia anymore but in a Japanese manga. Decoration is 100% manga, music from the TV screen is Japanese with young scholl girls dancing and singing. Waitresses are also part of the game and wear the clothe of the manga heros.

We order. Before, they nicely propose a warm soup, on the house, that we obviously accept.
There are 7 menus, simple and clear from EEK58 (4€) to EEK195 (12,5€). Click here to see the menu. The basic and cheapest menu (KITTEN menu) comprises 4 regular sushi, 1 salmon sushi and 1 egg sushi for less than 4€, unbeatable! Go to Silk and you would get the same quantity and quality and you could double the price.
I personally enjoyed the TIGER menu with 8 "Maki" (salmon, salad and cheese cream). Creamy, great taste: DE-LI-CIOUS!

Each menu is served on a mini wooden table with Wasabi, ginger and of course soja sauce on the table.

It is also possible to order and take away but waiting time is often long, so once again call!

In a nutshell, a great Manga-Sushi experience which is completely different from the regular sushi places we all know. Something different and affordable which is exaclty what people are looking for nowadays. Atmosphere relax, casual and friendly. No bling bling here and you will anyway do not see that kind of people since the place is too popular for them. Too bad for them, that is the real sushi-bar in Tallinn.
